Phyllis Johnson’s new book, The Triumph, Black Brazilians in Coffee, highlights families who are finding new pathways and breaking into the global specialty coffee market.  Johnson, An African American feels that her family’s connections to agricultural production and enslavement are what allowed her the chance to not only question but act on the lack of engagement of Black Brazilians in coffee.  The book highlights the stories and struggles of two families that are breaking through barriers.

The proceeds from the sale of the book will be split between the farmers and  Coffee Coalition for Racial Equity, a newly formed U.S. based organization founded by Johnson to improve racial equity in the U.S.
